Decatur Human Services survives largely on the income raised through the efforts of our volunteers, as well as donations from individuals and companies in the Decatur area. We receive less than 10% of our funds from the Federal Emergency Food and Shelter Assistance program, and this program must be renewed by Congress each year, so it cannot be considered a stable source of funding.

The organization's volunteers make possible two main fundraising efforts, the bi-weekly soup suppers and the Fourth of July Chicken Dinner. Specific information on these events is available on the Events page. Of course, these and other fundraising activites have been suspended since early 2020 because of the pandemic.

Individual and corporate donations increase the amount of good we can do in the community – donations of food, personal care and household cleaning supplies, and other necessary goods as well as cash. If you are interested in making a donation, please contact the office at 269-423-6474, stop by Monday, Wednesday or Friday from 9:00 am until Noon, or click our "Donate" button below. Decatur Human Services is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and donations are tax-deductible. Checks may be made out to Decatur Human Services and mailed to the organization at 102 South Phelps St., Decatur, MI 49045.
